Arise, Shine: How the Light of Christ Manifests in Our Daily Lives

The concept of 'Epiphany'—a manifestation of light—is a powerful reminder that the gospel of Jesus Christ shines universally, calling us to be disciples everywhere.

If there’s one theme that echoes through all of the scriptures—from Isaiah to the Gospels—it’s the light. The light of Christ. The light of knowledge. The light of the gospel.

Recently, we watched a reflection on the Epiphany of the Lord. The concept, *Epiphany*, literally means 'manifestation.' It speaks of a moment when a profound truth, a glory, is shown to the world. While the readings focused on the historical manifestation of Christ to the world, the core message resonates powerfully with our modern calling as Latter-day Saints: that the gospel of Jesus Christ is not merely for some people, or some places, or some time. It is for *all* people, *all* the time.

When we think of the gathering of Israel, we are thinking of the Light. The light that was once dormant, but which the Lord has manifested through the Restoration. This truth is the ultimate mission-prep skill we can carry into any missionary discussion, whether it’s in a structured setting or a casual chat with a neighbor.

Being an Internet Missionary: Shining the Light from Anywhere

The world today is vast, and the mission field is literally everywhere. Our calling as disciples means that our light cannot be contained by a single boundary, a single district, or even a single time zone. We are all potential Internet missionaries.

The scriptures teach us that this light shines on the nations. When we take that principle and apply it to our lives, what are we doing? We are testifying of the universal nature of the gospel. We are sharing the plan of salvation—the light—with those who may be geographically or culturally distant, but who are nonetheless searching for truth.

The Lord requires that we keep the light burning. Our testimony isn't just a feeling; it's a conviction that must be lived out and shared. It’s the fuel for the work.

If you've ever felt overwhelmed by the sheer scope of the work, remember that your light shines through your actions, your kindness, and your willingness to study. That is the manifestation the Lord asks of us.

Deepening Our Light: Study and Fellowship

How do we keep that light shining brightly, especially when we are far from the temple or the local ward center? We lean on community, study, and the Spirit.

If you are feeling the call to deepen your knowledge of the restored gospel, I highly recommend checking out the Isaiah Studies through LivingBook. It helps us keep our minds focused on the promises of the Lord and the glorious future He has planned for us.

And remember, we are a community. If you're looking for a way to connect with other disciples who are also striving to be more Christlike, please join us this week for our free weekly Disciple Challenge gathering. It’s a perfect place to refresh your perspective and connect with fellow companions.

We are all part of this grand manifestation. Let's keep shining.
