Breaking Through the Freeze: The Power of Resurrection in Our Lives

Brothers and sisters, have you ever felt like life is stuck in a deep freeze? Like everything—your purpose, your relationships, even your own spirit—is encased in ice? It’s a feeling that whispers, ‘Maybe this is just how it has to be.’

It’s a feeling I know well. I remember the weight of expectation, the feeling that I wasn't quite living up to the covenants I’d made, that I was hiding some part of my heart from the Spirit. It’s easy, isn't it, to get comfortable in the cold—to keep our secrets, our doubts, and our fears tucked away, believing that hiding is safer than being fully exposed to the light.

But the Lord, Heavenly Father, knows better. He knows that the purpose of our lives—the glorious, vibrant purpose He designed us for—cannot remain frozen. We are meant to flow, to move, to fulfill the divine pattern.

When we look at the scriptures, and when we hear talks like this one, we see a powerful pattern: the end of the season of hiding. The world, and indeed our own hearts, are sometimes described as being in a season of winter—a time when everything seems dormant, frozen by sin and by disillusionment.

What does that mean for us, the Rogue Disciples, who are called to be disciples everywhere, all the time? It means that the power of the Resurrection isn't just a historical event; it’s a constant, available power meant to unfreeze us.

The Power to Unfreeze

Think about the paralyzed man. He was physically immobilized, unable to move, unable to participate fully in life. But when Jesus approached him, He didn't just offer sympathy; He offered action. He commanded, "Get up and walk." And the man walked. He was restored to what he was meant to be.

That’s the promise for us. Guilt, shame, and doubt—these are the things that paralyze our spiritual progress. They make us hide. But the Atonement, the power of Christ, is the ultimate thaw. It’s the power that melts the ice around our hearts, allowing the Spirit to flow again, allowing us to move forward in the work.

As we continue to journey in our mission preparation, whether we are studying in a Book Club in HolyPlaces or wrestling with tough questions with Davee in an AI Investigator session, we are doing the work of unfreezing. We are learning to bring our hidden doubts into the light, knowing that the light of Christ is stronger than the darkness of our shame.

My challenge to you this week, as we continue to build up our capacity to be internet missionaries, is to identify one area of your life—one habit, one fear, one lingering doubt—that feels frozen right now. Don't try to fix it all at once. Just bring it into the light. Talk to your Bishop, share it with a companion, or even wrestle with it in a study group.

Remember that the purpose of the Resurrection is to allow life to flow again. Let’s not let the season of winter—the season of hiding—define us. Let’s press forward with the confidence that the power to unfreeze our lives, and the lives of those around us, is available through Christ.
