Feeding Our Faith: How to Win the World's Battles Through the Gospel
Feeling the pressure of the world? Remember that our faith is what allows us to conquer the challenges around us by staying connected to the Spirit.
Brothers and sisters, if you’ve been in the field, or if you’re just tuning in from your living room, you know the feeling. The world—and I mean the whole system swirling around us—puts constant pressure on us. It whispers doubts, it suggests compromise, and sometimes it feels like it’s telling us to just... drift. It’s exhausting, isn't it?
But here’s the beautiful, powerful truth we need to hold onto today: We don't win the world by conforming to it. We win it by feeding our faith.
I was recently reflecting on some powerful words—a reminder of where our true strength comes from. It hit me right in the spirit: our victory isn't based on our own strength, our perfect adherence to every rule, or even how many comps we’ve had. Our victory comes from the *faith* that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of all.
When we talk about 'winning the world,' we aren't talking about winning worldly accolades; we’re talking about maintaining our discipleship in the face of constant cultural noise. As the scriptures teach, we are called to walk in the *contrarian* way—to live counter to what the world thinks is normal or acceptable.
The Source of Our Strength
If the world is the pressure cooker, where do we find the cooling agent? The answer, time and time again, is communion with the Spirit and consistent study. The Prophet taught that faith increases when we are in contact with God. And how do we do that?
It comes through the Word. It comes through gathering. It comes through showing up—whether that’s in a formal missionary discussion, a Book Club in HolyPlaces, or just sitting down to study the scriptures with a companion.
The cycle is clear: The Spirit prompts us to learn; we study the scriptures; our knowledge deepens; our faith strengthens; and that strengthened faith allows us to bear our testimony boldly in the field.
Remember that every member can be an Internet missionary, every member can be a disciple anywhere, all the time. Our mission field is wherever we are.
If you feel that little dip in your spiritual energy this week, don't wait until you're on a mission assignment or waiting for a transfer. Take the initiative. Dive into the scriptures. Let's make sure our faith is robust enough to handle whatever the coming weeks bring.
I highly recommend revisiting some of the foundational teachings on faith. If you haven't already, check out some of the insights on building testimony available from the Iron Rod authors in LivingBook. It’s a great refresher for any disciple, whether you’re prepping for the MTC or you’ve been out for years.
If you're looking for a place to deepen this study with others, I encourage you to explore the Book Clubs or Bible Study Groups in HolyPlaces. Let's keep building up the body of discipleship together!

— A fellow disciple, always striving to keep the light burning.
