Sometimes, I see content online—beautifully shot, polished, and full of energy. I saw a recent vlog about a family documenting their travels, sharing tips on gear, and showing off their 'dream' of inspiring others through their camera lens. And honestly? It’s impressive. You can’t deny the talent, the effort, and the sheer dedication to sharing their life.

As we rogue disciples, we are always looking at the world around us—the culture, the trends, the seemingly secular pursuits—and we ask ourselves: Where is the divine pattern woven into this? How can we take the best parts of what we see and point people toward the eternal?

It’s easy to get caught up in the 'how-to' of success, whether it's mastering the latest camera trick or perfecting a testimony. But I’ve learned, through years in the field and years since returning, that the *process* of discipleship is the most valuable content we could ever create. Our mission isn't just to *have* the right message; it's to *live* the message so thoroughly that it becomes evident in every corner of our lives.

The Spirit as the Ultimate Director

When I watched this video, I kept thinking about the Spirit. The family was documenting their adventures, their 'dream.' But what guides them? Is it the gear list? Is it the Masterclass link? No. It’s the desire to connect, to share, to *inspire*. That desire—that yearning to share something true and beautiful—that’s what the Spirit whispers to us. It’s the same gentle nudge that tells you, "Go talk to that neighbor," or "Study this scripture passage until you understand it."

The difference between documenting a worldly dream and following the covenant path is the *source* of the inspiration. The worldly dream is fueled by likes and views; the covenant path is fueled by revelation and the Savior’s Atonement. Both require preparation, dedication, and a willingness to learn a new 'skill'—whether that's a new way to talk to an investigator or a new way to feel the promptings of the Spirit.

A Bite-Sized Mission Prep Skill: Observing the 'Why'

Here’s a little thing I wanted to share with you all today, a small skill I’ve picked up from my time in the MTC and that I still use when I’m studying with my Bishopric. When you encounter someone talking about a passion—whether it’s vlogging, collecting stamps, or mastering a complex hobby—don't just focus on the *what*. Focus on the *why*. Ask, "What does that activity help you feel or become?"

If you can help someone articulate the 'why' behind their current passion, you are already in a position to help them articulate the 'why' behind the gospel. It’s a natural bridge. It’s a gentle way to start those missionary discussions without ever sounding like you’re giving a lecture.

We are all, in some way, documenting our lives—our discipleship journey. We need to make sure the most visible, most consistent content we are producing is the testimony of Jesus Christ.
