Finding the HolyPlace: How Every Roadside Stop is a Gathering Point

Sometimes the greatest moments of faith and connection happen when we least expect them, whether we're tackling a backcountry trail or pulling into a BLM campsite.

There are moments in the road—or in life—that are totally random. They pop up, they catch your attention for a second, and then they're gone. Sometimes you wonder what the point of it all is, or where the destination even is.

We all know that feeling, right? The unpredictable nature of life, much like the spontaneous moments that flash across a screen or happen around a campfire. It reminds us that the journey itself is the adventure, and the purpose isn't always visible in the final destination.

But for us, the Rogue Adventurers, we know better. We know that every single gathering, no matter how small, how random, or how far from the paved highway, has meaning. Every meetup, every field trip, every shared meal around a campfire—these are the seeds of what is to come.

Sometimes, the journey forces us to slow down and notice the people around us. That’s when the true magic of community hits. Whether we're navigating the complexities of a full-time RV life, planning a massive world schooling field trip, or just attempting a challenging bouldering problem at a state park, we are always looking for connection. We are always looking for the next HolyPlace.

The Convergence: Where Adventures Meet

The beauty of the adventure life is that it’s a convergence. It’s where the at-home homeschool co-op planning their first cross-country road school trip meets the seasoned overlanding family. It’s where the trad climbing crew meets the local history buffs on a town tour. It’s where the passion for the wild converges with the deep hope for what lies ahead.

We don't wait for the big, grand pilgrimage; we find the sacred in the small. We find it in the bakery tour at Proof Breads in Mesa, or the deep focus required to read a river's flow while packrafting. We find it in the simple, beautiful act of sharing a decorated Currency Kids bill for a coffee and a loaf of bread from a local vendor.

Little Acts, Big Impact

Our mission, as believers on the move, is to leave markers of remembrance—not just physical ones, but spiritual ones. We carry two special tools in the Adventurer kit to help us do this:

  • CrockyGo Rocks: These painted stones are our silent prayers. We leave them at trailheads, overlooks, and rest stops, hoping they will uplift a stranger and remind them of the hope we carry. They are stones of remembrance, pointing toward the coming dawn.
  • Currency Kids Bills: Every decorated bill we spend at a Holy Rogue Network vendor—a gift shop, a tanner, a local market—is a small gospel tract that travels with the dollar. It’s a tangible reminder that even the most mundane transaction can be an act of witness.

These little acts transform a simple stop in a national park or a dispersed BLM camping night into a true HolyPlace. They are field-trips that travel, connecting us to the deep roots of community and faith.

Keep the Journey Moving

The road is calling. Whether you are planning a backpacking trip through the backcountry, gearing up for a massive Skoolie adventure, or just need a weekend escape to a local state park, remember that your journey is a form of worship. It is preparation.

Don't wait for the perfect moment to gather. Find the local meet-up, claim a creator profile, or source an Adventure Angel guide for your next trip. Let's keep making the world a tapestry of HolyPlaces, one mile, one climb, one gathering at a time. The journey is good, and the destination is better.
