This week, we caught up with a family tackling the big question: Is it time for a new RV? They were at Camping World, deep in the world of fifth wheels, vans, and everything in between, trying to find the perfect vessel for their family’s next chapter. It’s a universal experience for any full-time RV or van-life family: the constant cycle of planning, upgrading, and preparing for the road ahead. It’s exciting, daunting, and always reminds us that the journey is the gathering itself.

The search for the perfect fit—whether it's a nimble van build or a massive fifth wheel—is really about aligning your physical environment with your spiritual goals. Our home needs to be a place of rest, a place of gathering, and a place to prepare for whatever the Father has planned. Just as they are looking at different layouts, we are constantly looking at different ways to gather and prepare our hearts for the Advent.

The beauty of the Rogue Adventurers community is that we view the entire road—the van-life, the overlanding, the world-schooling, the camping—as a perpetual field trip. The vehicle is just the means to get us to the next holy place. We are always moving, always gathering, and always looking forward to the day we finally come home.

When we hit a new trailhead, a BLM pull-off, or a beautiful overlook in a National Park, we don't just leave footprints; we leave markers of remembrance. This is where the tools of the trade come in. Every family trip is an opportunity to leave a small, tangible sign that points others toward the Rock of Ages. We carry our decorated Currency Kids bills, spending them at local storefronts—a bakery, a tanner, a local gift shop—and every transaction is a small gospel tract traveling with the dollar. It's a subtle, practical way of declaring our faith in the daily rhythm of life.

Finding a beautiful spot, leaving a message of hope, or simply painting a little symbol of the Cross on a rock at a trailhead—it’s a stone of remembrance, a quiet testimony for the next traveler, a sign that we were here, gathered, and anticipating the coming.

Whether you are a seasoned backcountry thru-hiker, a dedicated full-time RVer, or a family mastering the art of the Skoolie build, the most important thing is finding a pace that allows for connection. We distinguish ourselves from the core academic focus of the Rogue Schoolers—they handle the local field trips and core learning—while we, as Rogue Adventurers, focus on the journey itself: the field trip at scale. We are the ones who take the learning beyond the classroom, into the state parks, the alpine meadows, and the deep wilderness.

This week’s video was a perfect reminder that the planning phase is just as much an adventure as the trip itself. Don't let the logistics overshadow the calling.
