Following the Light: Finding Christ in the Everyday Miracles

There are times when the Spirit whispers a profound truth, and you feel like you’ve just stepped out of a classroom setting and straight into the field. You think you’ve absorbed the doctrinal nuggets—the principles of the Plan of Salvation, the importance of temple covenants, the power of testimony—but then life reminds you that the work is lived out in the *moments*.

It’s easy, especially when we’re deep in mission prep or studying for our next round of missionary discussions, to focus only on the big, dramatic moments: the powerful testimony meeting, the breakthrough conversation, the feeling of the Spirit washing over a new convert. But the Lord, in His infinite wisdom, shows us that the divine narrative is woven through the mundane, the everyday miracle.

I was recently reflecting on some material that brought to mind the disciples following Jesus. Think about it: John is there, watching. Jesus is simply walking, and the disciples, drawn by His presence, begin to follow. It wasn't a planned, scheduled event; it was a natural gravitation toward the source of light. And when they finally found Philip and Nathanael, the revelation wasn't just about identifying the Messiah; it was about the profound realization: *‘Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit.’*

This is what I keep bringing back to heart as we continue our journey as rogue disciples. We are learning that being an internet missionary, or even just being a disciple in our own homes, isn't about having the perfect talking points ready for every single person we meet. It’s about having the *eyes* to see the Savior at work, and the *humility* to follow Him wherever He leads.

The Call to See

When Jesus spoke to Nathanael, He didn't wait for Nathanael to ask the perfect, intellectual question. He remembered a seemingly insignificant detail: seeing him under the fig tree. That intimate knowledge, that awareness of the *before* and *after*, is what allowed Him to declare, “Thou shalt see greater things than these.”
