Following the Road: Where Adventure Meets the Gathering

There’s a specific kind of rhythm that settles over a family on the road. It’s the steady hum of the engine, the scent of pine needles at a dispersed camping site, and the collective anticipation of the next vista. For us Rogue Adventurers, the open road isn't just a vacation; it's a pilgrimage. It’s the journey that reminds us that life is meant to be lived in motion, heading toward a great gathering.

The call of the wild—whether it’s a massive BLM stretch in Utah or a challenging bouldering route in the backcountry—always feels like a foretaste of something bigger. We are always moving, always preparing, and always heading toward the place where the family gathers. This spirit of forward motion, of looking toward what is to come, is the heart of our adventure.

The Trail as a HolyPlace

For many, the ultimate adventure is conquering a peak or traversing a state park. For us, the adventure is the gathering itself. Every time we pull into a National Park overlook, every time we stop for fresh bread from a local Proof Breads shop, or even when we just share a campfire under a vast, starlit sky, that moment becomes a HolyPlace. We don't need a designated meeting hall; the convergence of believers, focused on Christ and the journey, makes the place sacred.

This concept of the HolyPlace is what makes the convergence of worlds—the rock climbers, the full-time RV families, the homeschool co-ops, and the overlanders—so powerful. It’s a field-trip-at-scale mechanic. We might be discussing grade ratings or 30-amp hookups, but underneath it all, we are sharing a common hope and a common destination.

Leaving Stones and Spending Tracts

As we travel, we try to leave markers—reminders of the hope that brought us there. This is where our tools come into play. We carry our CrockyGo rocks, painted with uplifting messages, and leave them at trailheads, overlooks, and rest stops. They are quiet stones of remembrance, little whispers to the next stranger who feels lost or needs a gentle reminder of the light. They are physical evidence that the gathering has happened here.
