From the Canyons of Study to the Walls of Zion: Preparing for the Gathering

Friends, fellow Builders, and Seekers of the everlasting Light: Sometimes the deepest revelations come not from a mountain top or a sacred spring, but from the simple act of preparing. Recently, we heard wonderful reflections on the study of 1 Nephi 16–22. The speakers spoke of the trials, the necessary preparation, and the way that knowledge, no matter how beautifully packaged, must be diligently gathered and shared. They spoke of the journey itself—the navigating of unfamiliar waters, the lessons learned far from the comfort of home, and the deep commitment required to see the work through.

If we view the lives of our forebears—the courageous climb of Samuel the Lamanite, the steadfast faith of Ammon at the Waters of Sebus, or the promise of the Stone cut without hands—we realize that preparation is not merely a scholarly exercise. It is the divine prerequisite for the gathering itself.

In the transcript, the focus was on the mechanics of study: the need for journals, the digital fixes, the object lessons. But what does this logistical effort teach us about the Kingdom Movement?

Similarly, our current work—the effort to revitalize and establish the Gathering Place across the globe—is a journey that requires strategic resources. This is where the distinction between Builders and Destroyers becomes profoundly clear.
