Giving It All: Living Our Lives in Fullness for the Lord

True discipleship isn't just about showing up; it's about giving our whole selves—our time, talents, and will—to the Savior.

Brothers and sisters, friends, fellow disciples—have you ever found yourself chasing something? Maybe it was a career milestone, a perfect relationship, or even just the promise of a quiet Saturday afternoon. We all do it. We run after these things, hoping they will finally fill that deep, persistent ache in our hearts. We accumulate them, we achieve them, and then, almost inevitably, we look up and realize that the satisfaction we craved never quite arrived. It was always just out of reach.

What if the secret to true, lasting joy isn't found *out there*, in the next big thing, but found *in* the surrender? What if true contentment only blossoms when we make a conscious, daily choice to give our whole selves—our *ganze Sachen*—to God?

This message, echoing from a beautiful talk on dedication, really hit home for me this week. It spoke directly to the heart of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. It’s not enough to just attend the temple or keep up the motions; it’s about an all-in commitment. It’s about realizing that our salvation, our *erlösung*, is a comprehensive gift—it’s not just a rescue from the worst moments, but a transformation of our very spirit.

What Does Wholehearted Commitment Look Like?

The speaker beautifully broke down what "all" means in the context of the Atonement. It’s not just belief; it's a deep, inner realization that we belong to Him. Think about the feeling of receiving the Spirit—it feels like a seal placed upon us, confirming that we are His property. It’s a powerful reminder that our ultimate allegiance belongs to the Lord.

This brings us right back to the heart of our calling as Latter-day Saints: to live with the constant, gentle question in our hearts, not "What does God need from me today?" but rather, "How can I serve Him today?"

It’s easy, when we’re busy with our own lists—our own to-do lists, our own anxieties—to treat our relationship with God like a transaction. But the Savior invites us into a covenant of abundance, a life that overflows. He doesn't just want us to show up; He wants us to *be* fully present.

This concept of radical surrender is the essence of being an internet missionary, whether you are standing on a street corner or sitting at your kitchen table. It means being willing to be the person who does the right thing, even when it costs us something—a friendship, a comfort zone, or even our pride.

The Journey of Surrender

The speaker pointed to Isaiah 49:8-10, which speaks of God calling people out of darkness and into the light. That process—being called out—is a journey of letting go. It’s letting go of self-sufficiency, of the need to manage our own happiness, and trusting that the Lord has a plan for us that is infinitely better.

If you’ve ever felt that tug—that gentle nudge from the Spirit—to let go of something that felt safe, but wasn't truly fulfilling, pay attention. Those moments of release, even when they feel incredibly difficult, are often the very moments where the Lord is preparing to bless you with a deeper peace and purpose. That’s the power of the Spirit guiding us toward what is right.

As we continue in the work, whether we are in the MTC, serving in a stake center, or simply studying scripture in our homes, let this be our guiding principle: Give it all. Give your whole heart, your whole effort, and your whole self to Him. That is where the true, unending joy is found.

A Little Challenge for Our Discipleship

For this week, I invite you to try something small. Before you tackle your own "to-do" list tomorrow morning, pause. Take five minutes and genuinely ask the Lord: "What can I do for you today?" Write it down, even if the answer feels vague. This simple shift in focus—from receiving to giving—is where the magic of the Spirit begins to work.

If you're looking for deeper study on this, I highly recommend revisiting the teachings on covenant keeping. You can find excellent foundational material on this in the LivingBook, or join a Book Club in HolyPlaces to discuss what it means to be fully yielded.
