Brothers and sisters, friends, fellow disciples—it feels like the world is shouting truth from every direction these days. Every corner of the internet, every headline, every charismatic voice seems to claim to hold the ultimate answer. It can feel overwhelming, can't it?

When I was first getting my bearings after my mission, I remember feeling like I was wading through a sea of conflicting information. You hear voices—some earnest, some loud, some backed by impressive-sounding credentials—all pointing to *the* truth. It’s easy, when you’re hungry for certainty, to just grab the nearest thing that sounds authoritative.

But the Spirit, bless its heart, has taught me that certainty isn't found in volume; it's found in qualification. It’s found in knowing *where* our foundational truths come from. This recent video really hit home for me, reminding us that while the call to gather Israel is urgent, our *method* must be guided by divine discernment.

Discerning the Source: More Than Just Authority

The message was clear: we must be extremely cautious about treating secular prominence or worldly authority as qualified sources of Truth. Expertise in one field—be it athletics, entertainment, or even modern social media influence—does not automatically grant expertise on the eternal plan of salvation.

This isn't meant to breed cynicism, far from it. We are called to be missionaries who are both loving *and* discerning. We are called to be disciples who are anchored to the Rock. We are taught to rely on the established, divinely appointed sources: the restored gospel, the Book of Mormon, the teachings of the Prophet, and the guidance of the Brethren.

The Danger of Selfish Motivation

Perhaps the most crucial takeaway for any of us engaging in the work, whether we are in the field, in a missionary discussion, or even just sharing a testimony online, is the warning against selfish motivation. The scriptures warn us against "priestcraft" for a reason—it’s when the *why* behind the message gets twisted by personal gain, ego, or desire for recognition. The source might *sound* legitimate, but if the motivation is self-serving, the message is tainted.

As we strive to be Christlike, we must constantly ask ourselves: Am I sharing this because it will build up the Kingdom, or because I want to be seen as knowledgeable? Am I pointing people toward the Savior, or am I pointing them toward *my* understanding of the Savior? The answer must always be the former.

So, what does this look like practically for us, the Rogue Disciples? It means deepening our habits of study and relying on our community structure. It means moving beyond surface-level knowledge.
