Brothers and sisters, sometimes the noise out there—the constant stream of warnings, the predictions, the deep dives into cycles—can feel overwhelming. It’s easy to get caught up in the drama, to feel the pull of the 'next big thing' that will explain everything that’s happening in the world. We see these intense discussions, especially when prophets speak about times of great change, and it can make us feel like we need to have all the answers, or that we need to be tracking every single date.

I was thinking recently about a talk I heard concerning cycles and what we can glean from those patterns. It’s a powerful reminder, isn't it, that while understanding the signs and seasons is part of being a diligent disciple, our ultimate focus—the thing that can’t be shaken by any market crash or political upheaval—is our relationship with the Savior.

The Eternal Perspective: Dates vs. Devotion

The speaker was very clear on one critical point, and I wanted to emphasize it for our community. He cautioned strongly against becoming dogmatic about timing. We can learn from the patterns—the historical manifestations, the biblical cycles—but we cannot let the *timing* of the event obscure the *message* of the covenant. The message, always, is about returning to God.

This rings so true when I think about our own missionary efforts. Sometimes we get so focused on the perfect talk, the perfect question, or the perfect "moment" to share the gospel that we lose sight of the simple, consistent act of being present—being a disciple right where we are. The work doesn't pause because the stock market dips or because a specific date passes.

It’s a beautiful, humbling truth: regardless of what happens on any given day, America, the world, or even our own personal lives, our focus has to be on God and getting right with Him. That’s the core of missionary preparation, isn't it? It’s not about memorizing dates; it’s about developing the Spirit and the testimony.

A Bite-Sized Skill: Shifting Focus

When you find yourself reading something sensational or worrying about a future date, pause. Take a deep breath, and immediately pivot your thoughts to one scripture passage you love, or one aspect of the Plan of Salvation that brings you peace. Use that as your mental anchor. This is how we train our hearts to be resilient, like our testimonies.

Remember, every member can be an Internet missionary, every member can be a disciple anywhere, all the time. Our calling is portable!

Keeping the Spirit Alive
