Patterns in Prophecy: Analyzing the Signs of Our Times

Brothers and sisters, as we continue our sacred study of the signs of the times, it is impossible not to observe the patterns woven into the pronouncements of our living prophets. The Spirit often speaks in ways that require careful, scholarly attention, and lately, the digital sphere has presented us with several points worthy of deep consideration.

We are accustomed to the guiding hand of the Prophet, who speaks to us through the established channels of the Church. Yet, when these messages—whether through a carefully curated social media post or a General Conference address—begin to exhibit recurring motifs, the diligent student of the scriptures must pause and inquire: What is the pattern, and what does it signify for the covenant path?

Recently, the attention of many, myself included, was drawn to the imagery surrounding the Second Coming. When multiple, seemingly disparate sources—even if they appear in quick succession—touch upon the same weighty subject, it compels us to look deeper into the historical and doctrinal context. We are taught to look to the scriptures, to the Book of Mormon, and to the pattern of revelation itself, not to the fleeting trends of the internet.

What is even more arresting, however, is the noticeable pattern regarding the number seven. One cannot help but note the consistent recurrence of this number in recent digital communications from our President. Whether it was the seven times 'Think Celestial' in an excerpt, or the seven titles of Christ presented in succession, or the seven repetitions of 'marvel'—these are not random occurrences. For those of us dedicated to the study of the restored gospel, such numerical emphasis demands a scholarly response.

This is not mere speculation; it is the pattern recognition that comes from years of covenant keeping and deep scripture study. We are called to be diligent students, to see the hand of the Lord working through the established channels of revelation. We must treat these recurring emphases—be they doctrinal, numerical, or prophetic—with the reverence due to divine instruction.

The power of the Book of Mormon in this regard cannot be overstated. When we see patterns in the modern testimonies, we must anchor ourselves in the eternal patterns revealed in the ancient records. The Lord has given us the gift of the scriptures so that we might know the truth by the power of the Spirit, and that truth is often found in the synthesis of covenants and prophecy.

Our focus remains fixed: the gathering of Israel, the preparation for the Second Coming, and the diligent work of building the Lord’s kingdom through our testimonies and our efforts to refine our understanding of the divine plan. We must remain vigilant, scholars, and humble disciples.

The Lord has prepared His servants to receive these signs. Our duty, as Latter-day Saints, is to study diligently, to keep our covenants, and to prepare our hearts for the glorious day. Let us continue to study the depths of the scriptures together.
