Seeing the Savior: A Look at Luke's Gospel and the Power of Testimony

Brothers and sisters, sometimes you feel like you’re standing in the middle of a missionary discussion, and the questions are coming so fast—one after the other—that you feel like you’re going to get lost in the sheer volume of doctrine. You think, "How do I keep my testimony strong when the investigator keeps pivoting from baptismal covenants to modern science?"

I’ve been there. I remember feeling overwhelmed, like I needed a cheat sheet for the entire Plan of Salvation just to get through one conversation. But what struck me recently, while watching a film focused on the Gospel of Luke, was how consistently the Savior was doing the same thing: revealing truth, even when it was scandalous or confusing to the established powers.

The film really paints a picture of Jesus—not just the divine Son, but the approachable teacher. He’s performing miracles, yes, but more importantly, He’s teaching in parables that require deep listening. He’s going to the margins, helping those the world ignores. It makes me think about our own work today.

We are all, in some way, doing this work. Whether you are in your MTC, serving in a stake center, or you are simply having a Book Club meeting in HolyPlaces with a friend who has never heard of the Restoration, you are pointing people toward the ultimate source of light. You are showing them the empty tomb—the evidence that the Savior lived, died, and rose!

The narrative in Luke, as shown in the film, is one of divine preparation meeting human failure, culminating in undeniable triumph. It’s a beautiful reminder that our role isn't to *be* the Savior, but to point people to Him—to testify of Him with everything we have.
