But lately, I’ve been reflecting on how often the narrative spotlight shines so brightly on the men that the women—the daughters, the wives, the powerful, and the vulnerable—get relegated to footnotes. It reminds me that the work, the eternal work, is done by every single disciple, and that requires us to see the full picture, the whole tapestry.

This week’s study, focusing on Genesis 37–41, brought this realization into sharp relief. We’re looking at the stories of Joseph, yes, but we are also looking at Dinah, Tamar, and Potiphar’s wife. These women, in their varied circumstances—sometimes victimized, sometimes acting with incredible agency, sometimes navigating impossible patriarchal structures—are not mere background dressing.
