Brothers and sisters, have you ever been in a situation where words just seemed… inadequate? Where the Spirit felt like it was whispering louder than your own voice could carry? I remember a time in my own mission days when we were struggling to connect with a particularly reserved investigator. We’d tried everything—the standard talk tracks, the stories, the deep dives into the Book of Mormon—and it felt like we were hitting a wall.

It was a friend who suggested we use music. It sounds simple, right? Just singing. But it reminded me of what we learn in our missionary discussions: that the gospel isn't just intellectual assent; it’s a feeling, a resonance. It’s the Spirit moving through melody.

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about how powerful music can be in the effort to gather Israel. Whether you are in the MTC, right here in your home, or even just in your living room, the music of the restored gospel has a way of opening hearts.

I was so excited to see the announcement about the Song of the Saints tour! It immediately brought to mind how much joy and power can be found in shared testimony, especially when it’s set to music. It’s a beautiful reminder that our message—the restored gospel of Jesus Christ—is inherently joyful.

When we are preparing for the field, or even just engaging in our daily discipleship, we need to remember that we are doing the work of the Savior. We aren't just presenting facts; we are sharing eternal covenants. And sometimes, the best way to share covenants is through something that bypasses the intellect and speaks straight to the heart.

A Bite-Sized Skill: Listening to the Spirit in Song

If you’re feeling dry in your personal study time, try this: Instead of just reading your assigned scriptures, find a hymn or a modern song that speaks to the principle you are studying (like faith, repentance, or the Atonement). Listen to it with the *intent* of feeling the Spirit. Ask the Spirit, “What does this song teach me about my role as an internet missionary?” Don't just listen for the notes; listen for the *feeling* of the covenant.
