It’s a weight that whispers, *“If you just do this one more thing... if you just keep perfect records... if you just attend every single meeting…”*

It’s a tempting trap, isn't it? To believe that our worthiness, our standing before the Lord, is somehow tethered to the perfect execution of our efforts. We are taught to strive, to improve, to be better, and those efforts are good! But sometimes, we can get so caught up in the *doing* that we forget the *source* of the gift.

The Apostle Paul, writing to the Galatians, wrestled with exactly this. He was confronting a church that was beginning to fall back into the yoke of legalism—the idea that they had to *earn* their standing through adherence to external rules, rather than resting in the finished work of our Savior.

This is the essence of being an Internet missionary, or a disciple anywhere, all the time. We don't wait for the perfect moment, the perfect setting, or the perfect set of credentials. We simply point to the Savior.

Sometimes, when we are preparing to teach or share our testimony, the questions can feel overwhelming. A natural question an investigator might ask, echoing this passage, is: "If I just *try* hard enough to be good, won't I get closer to the Lord than if I just rely on faith?"

This is where I love stepping in. Remember, when we discuss this, we aren't debating effort versus nothing. We are contrasting *self-effort* versus *Christ's enabling power*. The answer is always: "Our effort flows *from* the gift of the Spirit, which was given through faith in Christ. It doesn't *earn* the gift."

Mission Prep Skill: The "Faith Anchor"

Here’s a little mission prep skill for you this week: When you feel the pressure to "do more" to feel more worthy, pause. Take a breath and mentally anchor yourself to the Atonement. Say to yourself, "My effort is my response; my salvation is my inheritance through Christ." This shifts the focus from *performance* to *relationship*.
