It makes you wonder: How do we, as disciples of Jesus Christ, keep our focus when the cultural winds are blowing so fiercely? When the headlines scream crisis after crisis, it’s easy to feel like we need a shield made of pure adrenaline just to get through the week.

I was recently listening to some powerful counsel—counsel that spoke directly to the idea of standing firm. And honestly, it hit me like a spiritual punch to the gut. It wasn't about political stances, or who was right on the street corner; it was about spiritual positioning. It was a powerful reminder that our struggle isn't against the flesh and blood around us, but against the spiritual forces.

The Armor is Our Battlefield

The counsel repeated the words from Ephesians 6, and it felt like a divine download. When everything around us is chaos—when the 'flaming arrows of the evil one' seem to be coming from every direction—we are reminded: Don't just wring your hands and ask, 'What do we do?' We are being asked to 'stand our ground' in the truth.

Think about it: The belt of truth buckled around your waist. The breastplate of righteousness in place. The shoes fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. These aren't just nice concepts; they are actionable directives for our discipleship. They are what allows us to keep going, to keep sharing the restored gospel, even when the response is hostile or dismissive.

Staying on the Work

What really resonated with me was the call to action: "Get on it, stay on it, preach it, tell people, and move on." That's the rhythm of the gospel, isn't it? We share the message, we testify, we help someone find the path, and then we move on to the next soul who needs to hear it. We don't get bogged down in the opposition; we focus on the Savior's pattern.
