Watching accounts like this—stories of transformation—it hits you right in the spirit. It’s a powerful reminder that the calling to be a disciple of Jesus Christ is a journey of radical commitment. It’s not a destination you arrive at; it’s the steady, faithful act of walking alongside Him, no matter the cost.

The narrative echoes so strongly with what we talk about in our own missionary preparation. We talk about being ready to teach, to share our testimonies, to withstand the inevitable pushback. The Power of Following

What strikes me most, as a returned missionary who has seen the Spirit move in the field, is the theme of *following*. Mary Magdalene, in this story, moves from being a recipient of healing to becoming a witness. She doesn't just *know* about the Savior; she *follows* Him. That transition—from being saved to being a messenger—is the heart of discipleship.

It makes me think about our own daily lives as Latter-day Saints. We are called to be Internet missionaries, disciples anywhere, all the time. Sometimes the "field" is just the checkout line at the grocery store, or the tough conversation with a neighbor. The world will always present its version of what is "well" or what is "right," and it will often try to pull us toward the path of least resistance.

But the Savior’s pattern—the willingness to be with the sinners, the marginalized, the ones who need the message of the Gospel most—that’s our pattern too. It requires us to be willing to be uncomfortable, to be *seen* in the process of change.

This calls to mind the principles we study in our Preach My Gospel lessons: the need for persistent, gentle teaching, and the willingness to endure opposition for the sake of the eternal truths. It’s not always easy, and sometimes, the Spirit feels distant, but the call remains: to bear witness.

If I could give one small piece of missionary preparation advice today, it would be this: When you feel resistance—whether it’s a difficult question from an investigator, or a strong cultural objection—don't retreat to what is easy or what you *think* they want to hear. Instead, remember the principle of doing good to your enemies and blessing those who curse you. Be willing to let the Spirit guide you into the slightly uncomfortable, but ultimately more truthful, conversation.

When you're studying the scriptures, especially in a Book Club setting, don't just look for the comforting verses. Look for the verses that challenge your assumptions. Those are the ones that make you grow and help you become more Christlike.
