The Eternal Question: Keeping the Focus on the Covenant Path

Brothers and sisters, sometimes I feel like I’m sitting in the middle of a grand, rambling conversation—the kind where you start talking about bats, then pivot to plumbing, and suddenly you’re deep in theological waters. It reminds me a little bit of the kind of discussions we sometimes run into when we’re out in the field, or even when we’re just scrolling through social media.

The world, it seems, loves to challenge the simple, beautiful truths of the restored Gospel. We hear all sorts of hot takes—about what constitutes life, how we measure time, or where salvation actually comes from. It can feel like being bombarded from every direction, like a flurry of questions coming from every investigator we meet.

The recent bits of conversation I caught my ear on—the discussion about time, the emphasis on the covenants, and the sheer certainty of the eternal life offered through Christ—really brought me back to the core of our calling. When the noise gets loud, when people are trying to pull us in a hundred different directions, where do we anchor?

Finding the Anchor: The Unshakeable Promise

It’s easy to get bogged down in the minutiae—the 'what if's' and the 'hows' that distract from the central message. We can spend so much time debating the nuances of philosophy or the specifics of modern science that we lose sight of the simple, glorious truth: that the Atonement of Jesus Christ is the key.

Think about it. When they talk about time, they talk about BC/AD, or they get lost in philosophical constructs. But when we talk about the Kingdom of God, we are talking about something that *cannot* be destroyed. It’s eternal. It’s anchored to a reality that transcends human constructs.

This is where our preparation, our study, and our testimonies become vital. We need to be ready not just with facts, but with the Spirit-filled conviction that comes from deep study of the scriptures. If you’re feeling a little shaky on how to answer a difficult question during a missionary discussion, remember that the Spirit is our greatest tool. Don't try to out-argue the skepticism; invite them into the promise.

Be Christlike in Every Moment

This isn't just for when you’re in the MTC or standing in front of a group of investigators. It’s for the mundane moments—the plumbing issues, the car trouble, the unexpected conversation at the grocery store. It’s being unashamed of the Gospel, no matter the setting. It’s being a disciple anywhere, all the time.
