The Offering of Faith: What Are You Offering to the Lord Today?

Sometimes, when we study the scriptures, we focus so much on the dramatic moments—the miracles, the covenants, the covenants kept through trial. We see the grand testimonies of faith, and we think, "Wow, what an incredible thing to endure!"

But today, I want us to focus on something quieter, something more foundational, something that speaks directly to our daily lives as disciples: the offering.

I was recently reflecting on the story of Cain and Abel. It’s a story we all know, right? The jealousy, the disagreement, the tragic outcome. And while the narrative is heavy, the principle it unveils is absolutely vital for every member of the Church, whether you're in the MTC, serving in the field, or right here in your own living room as an internet missionary.

The lesson isn't in the post-mortem testimony, though that is powerful. The lesson, as the Spirit whispers, is about the act itself: Abel obeyed by faith. He offered what was right, what was pure, what was sacrificial. And the Lord saw that.

The Difference Between Knowledge and Faith

The video touches on something really insightful: Adam and Emma didn't need faith to see God—they had direct knowledge. But for Abel, it was an act of faith. It was an offering made *because* he trusted in the Lord's pattern, even when the outcome wasn't immediately visible or when others were tempted by jealousy.

Friends, this principle applies to our lives today. What are the "offerings" we are making to the Lord this week? Is it our time? Our comfort? Our deepest desires? Sometimes we think our offering has to be a huge, dramatic sacrifice—a career change, a move across the country, a major personal upheaval.

But often, the most profound sacrifices are the small, daily ones. It might be choosing to study the scriptures when you'd rather scroll through social media. It might be the humility to admit you were wrong during a family discussion. It might be the quiet, consistent effort to be more Christlike when no one is watching.

Sacrifice as an Act of Obedience

The message rings out so clearly: "There’s an area of your life that is not yet submitted to Christ? Is there something you know you have to sacrifice for obedience?"

That's where the real discipleship happens. It’s not about perfection; it’s about the *direction* of our will. It's about aligning our will with the Savior's. When we make those small, faithful offerings—the daily acts of submission—the Lord promises a reward that is great and eternal. We won't regret it.

As we continue to learn about the plan of salvation, I encourage you to view your life like this: what is the "sacrifice" you are willing to make this week to keep your covenant promises? Will it be a commitment to deeper isaiah studies? Will it be dedicating time to a book club in HolyPlaces? Will it be calling that friend who needs to hear the gospel?

Remember, every member can be an internet missionary, every member can be a disciple anywhere, all the time. Let's commit to offering our best, our most faithful, and most obedient selves to Him.
