The Profound Reality of Being Born Again: A Testimony to the Spirit

Brothers and sisters, if you’ve ever stood in the temple, or perhaps in a quiet corner of your living room while studying scripture, and felt a deep, undeniable peace wash over you—that feeling is more than just emotion. It’s the Spirit whispering a profound truth into your soul.

There are moments in our journey, especially when we are deep in missionary discussions or reviewing our personal covenants, where the truth hits you with such force that you can’t help but testify of it. It’s a testimony so real, so personal, that it echoes in your heart long after the meeting is over.

I was recently reflecting on a recording—a song, really—that captured this feeling perfectly. It spoke of being 'born again,' of having a heart that is free, and a soul that is saved. It’s a declaration that every single one of us, as Latter-day Saints, have the power to testify of, and the privilege to experience.

For those of us who have been through the MTC, or those of us who are currently serving in the field, we learn quickly that the gospel isn't just a set of doctrines; it's a living, breathing reality that changes you from the inside out. It’s the work of the Spirit at play.

The Power of Testimony in the Field

When we think about being an internet missionary, sometimes we focus on the *what*—the doctrines, the scriptures, the questions. But I want us to focus on the *feeling*. The feeling of justification. The feeling of knowing that Christ paid the ultimate price for our sins, and that Atonement is available to us right now.

This is what we need to carry into our homes, into our social circles, and into our digital lives. It’s not enough to just quote scripture; we have to *feel* the scripture. We have to let the Spirit testify of the Savior's grace.

This reminds me of a key concept we often discuss in our Preach My Gospel studies: the difference between intellectual assent and true conversion. One is agreeing with the words; the other is having those words rewrite your heart. The song captured that transformation beautifully.

A Little Challenge to Keep the Spirit Flowing

As we continue to gather Israel, we need to keep our spiritual batteries charged. For this week, I want to issue a mini-challenge. I invite you to spend 10 minutes this week journaling specifically about the phrase, "My heart is free." Don't just write what freedom means generally; write about a specific burden, a specific worry, or a specific sin you feel the Spirit has helped you release through Christ’s Atonement. Write *to* the Savior about that freedom.
