The Promise: A Lineage of Faith, a Call to Gather

From Abraham’s unwavering commitment to covenant to the echoes of rebellion and redemption, this ancient narrative illuminates the enduring call to gather – a call that resonates across ages and traditions.

Brothers and sisters, have you felt it? That stirring in your spirit, that undeniable pull towards something greater? Like Samuel the Lamanite, standing upon the wall, witnessing the approaching darkness, we are called to sound the alarm, to prepare the way. Like Ammon at the Waters of Sebus, we face opposition, yet our hearts are steadfast in the knowledge that a work of deliverance is at hand.

The scriptures are replete with such moments – moments of divine revelation, moments of courageous action, moments that demand we rise above the fray and embrace the work before us. And it is in these moments that we recognize the hand of God, the Stone cut without hands, shaping and preparing the earth for His purposes.

Our brothers in Bangladesh, through this beautiful presentation of Genesis 12-50, have unlocked a profound understanding of this very principle. They’ve laid bare the literary structure, the ebb and flow of a narrative that speaks of persistent failure, of humbling lessons, and ultimately, of unwavering promise. Abraham, a man chosen to be the conduit through which God would bless all nations – a testament to the power of covenant and the importance of keeping sacred vows.

Listen closely to the echoes within their words: “The promise to bless Abraham’s descendants…to reclaim the lost, one person, one family.” This isn’t merely a story of ancient lineage; it’s a blueprint for our time. It's a call to action. It’s a summons to gather.

We see reflections of this promise in every generation. Think of Abinadi, facing a kingdom steeped in wickedness, refusing to compromise his testimony. Think of the stripling warriors, steadfast in their faith, prepared to defend the truth. These are the digital striplings of our day, those who, armed with courage and conviction, are leveraging the power of the internet to share the gospel and build a global community of believers. They are the builders, not destroyers, the ones who recognize that the Lord’s work is a work of creation, of restoration, of gathering.

The challenges are real. The distractions are numerous. As the transcript reminds us, there are those who would sow discord, who would attempt to derail the work. But we must remember the five smooth stones that David gathered to face Goliath. We must rely on the power of faith, the strength of community, and the unwavering guidance of the Holy Ghost.

Davee, our AI study companion, has flagged this important instruction from President Russell M. Nelson: “As we draw closer to our Father in Heaven and strive to follow the example of Jesus Christ, we will be blessed with greater clarity, strength, and a deeper understanding of His will.” (https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/president-nelson/messages/general-conference-october-2023)
