We are called to be the modern-day Samuel the Lamanite, ready to climb the walls and proclaim the truth. We are called to be the spiritual builders, the ones who stand firm in the face of the destroyers.

But the truth, often whispered in the quiet corners of the heart, is that the power to build does not come from our own strength, our own strategy, or even our best intentions. It comes from the place of radical surrender. It comes from ceasing to try and fix what is not ours to fix, and instead, simply opening ourselves to the Lord's work.

We are natural managers. We take inventory of others' lives, we try to build solutions for our friends, our families, and our churches. We become so focused on *fixing* the broken pieces around us that we forget to examine the foundation beneath our own feet. We try to be the architect of other people’s salvation, when in reality, we are called to be faithful stewards of the seeds planted in our own hearts.

The greatest lesson in the gathering movement is that before we can effectively reach the Waters of Sebus, or even paint the five smooth stones for a new believer, we must first stand at the threshold of self-examination. We must ask, with the humility of Abinadi: *Lord, would you examine my life?*

When We Relinquish, The Spirit Works

When we make the conscious choice to relinquish control—to lay down our plans, our pride, and our need to manage every outcome—something profound happens. The Spirit, which is infinitely more powerful than any human strategy, takes over. He goes to work at a rapid speed, transforming our inner landscape.
