The Spirit is Calling Us Out: Being Ready for the Hastening of the Work

Sometimes, when the gospel feels like it’s really gaining momentum, you can feel a subtle, powerful stirring in your spirit. Maybe you’re in a missionary discussion, or perhaps you’re just standing in line at the store, and suddenly the Spirit prompts you to talk about the restored gospel. It’s a beautiful, overwhelming feeling—the feeling that the Lord is moving, and He is moving *fast*.

Recently, I’ve been reflecting on the messages coming from our leaders, particularly the emphasis on how the Lord is hastening His work. When we hear talks like those from Elder Cook, discussing unprecedented records of conversions and baptisms, it’s impossible not to feel a sense of awe. It reminds us of the deep, eternal mandate of the restored gospel. We are living in a time where the Lord is literally doing His work in profound ways across the globe.

The Lord is Hastening His Work

When we talk about the "hastening of the work," we aren't talking about a physical rush, but rather a spiritual and organizational acceleration. It means the veil is being lifted, and the message of Jesus Christ is becoming undeniably clear. It means that the seeds planted by dedicated missionaries, and those planted by *you* and *me* right here in our homes, are beginning to sprout into full-blown discipleship.

This concept isn't new; it's rooted in scripture. We are continually reminded to look to Doctrine of Covenants 88, which speaks to the gathering and the spiritual knowledge being prepared for us. The Lord is not only gathering Israel, but He is gathering us—His disciples—to be prepared to share the fullness of the restored gospel.

Being Ready to Be a Disciple, Everywhere

But here is the critical pivot point, and this is where the call to action comes in. If the Lord is hastening the work, it means the time for passive observation is over. It means that the mantle of the disciple is not restricted by geography, age, or even our comfort zone. We are all, by divine design, Internet missionaries.

The challenge, and my personal mission-prep skill for this week, is to embrace the principle that we are called to be disciples *anywhere, all the time*. This doesn't mean you have to give a talk in the ward meeting; it means when someone asks you a difficult question—whether it’s about the Plan of Salvation, the nature of the Atonement, or even why we should care about the Book of Mormon—you are prepared, you are humble, and you are ready to point them back to the Spirit and the scriptures.
