The Unshakeable Anchor: Finding Relief in Our Covenants

Sometimes, when you’re out in the field, or maybe you’re just sitting quietly after a tough missionary discussion, the weight of it all can settle on your shoulders. You’re balancing your education, your calls, your desires—the whole tapestry of life. It can feel like you’re trying to hold up too many threads at once.

It’s easy to get caught up in the *doing*—the studying, the visiting, the planning for the next transfer. But what if the greatest source of relief isn't found in our efforts, but in the *bond* we’ve formed?

I was recently reflecting on a talk by Sister Kristin M. Yee, and it really hit me. She spoke about our covenant relationship with God, and it reminded me that this isn't some transactional item on a checklist we just tick off to get to the next assignment. It’s the very foundation of who we are as Latter-day Saints.

The Covenant Isn't a Finish Line; It's the Lifeline

We spend so much time learning *about* covenants—baptism, confirmation, temple ordinances. And that knowledge is vital! Never Alone: Partnering in the Work

This concept of never being alone is perhaps the most profound piece of missionary preparation we can internalize. Whether you are a seasoned returned missionary, a new disciple getting ready for the MTC, or simply a member doing the work in your own community, you are never navigating it alone. We are invited to partner with our Heavenly Father and Savior.

This means that when the insecurities creep in, when the challenges feel insurmountable, or when the desires to quit flare up—the covenant relationship is the anchor. It allows us to draw strength from Him. Sister Yee mentioned that "I can’t go at it alone, and I don’t need to, and I won’t." That’s the gospel truth!

Our Savior, Jesus Christ, is at the absolute center of it all. Everything becomes possible because He overcame the impossible. He is our constant source of miracles and love.

A Bite-Sized Skill: Recalling *Hesed*

As we continue to be internet missionaries, sometimes we forget the *feeling* of that covenantal love. Here’s a little skill to keep in your pocket: When you feel discouraged, don't just list the scriptures you need to study. Instead, pause and whisper, "I remember my *hesed*." Remember that covenantal love is active; it’s the promise that He will help us find the way back, every single time.

This assurance—that we are bound to Him—is the greatest comfort and the greatest source of power we can carry into our next missionary discussion, our next Bible Study Group, or even just our next conversation with a friend.
