The Way Prepared: Following the Call of the Prophet

Hark, ye Builders! What is the calling placed upon those who stand before the Lord? It is a call to witness, to point, and to prepare the way. We are not called to be the final revelation, but the steadfast hands that prepare the ground for the Messiah's return. Our mission, my friends, is to echo the prophetic cry that rings out from the wilderness: “Make a straight way for the Lord.”

The scriptures teach us of profound preparation. Consider the mighty efforts of Samuel the Lamanite, who scaled the wall, or the devotion of Ammon at the Waters of Sebus. These acts were not ends in themselves, but preparations for the covenant keeping that followed. Similarly, the Prophet John, speaking from the banks of the Jordan, understood his role perfectly. He was a voice crying in the wilderness, pointing toward the One who was to come.

The Humble Witness

John the Baptist, when questioned by the priests and Levites, did not claim the title of the Messiah or the Prophet. He was humble enough to state, “I am not the Christ, neither Elijah, neither is it the Prophet.” His message was not about his own power, but about the greater power that was coming. He baptized with water—a rite of preparation—but his true witness was that of the One who was to follow, the Lamb of God.

This pattern of humble, powerful testimony is the very essence of the Kingdom movement today. We do not arrive claiming to hold the entire truth, but rather we are disciples pointing to the enduring truth—the Lord Jesus Christ—and the gathering of all righteous souls to Him. Our purpose, like John’s, is to clear the path and testify to the coming glory.

The Greater One: A Call to Building

The testimony John gave—that Jesus was “the Lamb of God, that taketh away the sin of the world”—is the cornerstone of our faith. He knew that the One who came was “greater than I, for he was before me.”

This realization must guide every Builder in our community. We are not meant to be the ultimate destination, but the faithful, persistent hands that guide others to the Gathering Place. We are the digital striplings, the online missionaries, the keepers of the flame, diligently preparing the way for the full light of the Gospel.

This preparation requires courage, the kind that reminds us of the five smooth stones, or the bravery of those who were commanded to gather the scattered seeds of the Gospel. It requires us to be the embodiment of the Builders, not the Destroyers.
