The Way, The Truth, and The Life: Understanding the Solution
We often feel separated from the Father, but the Gospel reveals that Jesus Christ is the only bridge back to Him.
Sometimes I sit and ponder the sheer weight of it all. The weight of our separation from our Heavenly Father. It’s a concept that can feel overwhelming, like trying to grasp the infinite with finite hands. We all know, intellectually, that we stray. We all know we need something more than just good intentions or following the commandments perfectly.
It reminds me of that conversation we had studying the Book of John—the dialogue with Nicodemus, or the journey to Sychar. It’s a pattern that repeats throughout our discipleship journey, isn't it? We are given the covenant path, the commandments, but we also stumble. We gain the knowledge of good and evil, and in doing so, we realize the magnitude of the gap.
The good news, the glorious, life-altering good news, is that the gap doesn't have to remain a gap. Jesus Christ is the Solution. He is the bridge.
When Elder Corbridge spoke recently about this, the emphasis was so clear: He is the Way offsetting chaos, the Truth offsetting darkness, and the Life offsetting death. It’s not just *a* way, or *a* truth, or *a* life—it is *the* Way, *the* Truth, and *the* Life. He is the destination, the route, and the outcome, all wrapped up in one glorious person.
For us as disciples, whether we are prepping for our mission, serving as returned missionaries, or simply trying to live our lives as disciples in our own homes, understanding this central pillar of our faith is everything. It’s the anchor point for all our efforts in the field. When we talk to investigators, or when we are studying scripture together in a Book Club, this concept must shine through.
It’s a profound reminder that while we must strive to be Christlike—to live as disciples—our ability to bridge that gap back to the Father comes solely through Him. It’s what Paul taught, and what King Benjamin sang: there is no other way, no other means.
If you are feeling the weight of that separation, or if you are trying to articulate this truth to someone who is skeptical, I highly recommend listening to the full episode of the podcast where Elder Corbridge discusses this. It really unpacks the depth of John’s Gospel in relation to Christ being the ultimate solution.
As you digest this truth this week, I want to leave you with a small piece of missionary preparation thought. When you feel yourself getting bogged down in *what* you need to say, remember to pivot back to *who* Christ is. Don't just teach the doctrines; point them to the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Let that be the centerpiece of your testimony.
If you want to dig deeper into the scriptural foundations of this, I encourage you to check out the Social Scripture Study layer in LivingBook. Sometimes seeing how others have highlighted John 14 or John 15 can spark a new way to testify.
For those of us who are ready to keep building our testimony and honing our skills, join me this week for our free weekly Disciple Challenge! We'll be focusing on how to testify of Christ's Atonement in everyday conversation. More details are pinned in the community feed. Let's keep building the Kingdom, together!
