Brothers and sisters, if you’ve ever been out in the field—whether it was in the heart of the mission field, or just out running errands in our own neighborhoods—you know that life throws curveballs. You prepare for the doctrinal discussions, you study the Book of Mormon chapters until your eyes blur, and you pray for the Spirit to guide your conversations. But sometimes, the preparation has to happen for the *whole* life, not just the missionary life.

I was recently reflecting on a powerful account of a near-fatal accident—a moment where the speaker described seeing a wall of light repelling their vehicle. It was a testimony of miraculous protection, a stark reminder that sometimes, the covenant keeping we do in our daily lives echoes far beyond our expectations.

It’s easy, when we’re deep in mission prep or even just serving in our local wards, to think that our greatest trials will be intellectual—the hard questions from an investigator, or the doctrinal knots we need to untangle. But this story reminds me that our protection, our sustaining power, comes from a source far greater than our own preparation. It comes from the covenants we keep, and the constant watchfulness of the Savior.

The Assurance of the Covenant Keepers

What struck me most, after hearing this account, wasn't just the drama of the crash, but the conclusion drawn from it. The speaker felt that their protection was a testament to the prayers of family, the Primary, and the patrons who attend the temple. Ask yourself: "What covenant am I upholding right now that connects me to divine protection?" Is it keeping the Sabbath holy? Is it studying my scriptures? Is it serving my family with love?

By anchoring your focus on the covenant act, you shift from a place of fear to a place of action, which is where the Spirit resides. It’s a shift from "What if?" to "Because I covenant."
