When the Path Isn't Clear: Trusting the Master Plan

Sometimes, standing at a crossroads in life, the questions can feel overwhelming. *What job should I take? Who should I marry? What is my true calling?* These are the questions that can keep us up at night, whispering doubts into the quiet moments between service calls or while studying scripture.

It’s easy to get caught up in the *now*, in the immediate struggle, the layoff, or the unexpected detour. We look at the visible evidence and think, "This isn't what I expected. This isn't the path I envisioned." But the truth, friends, is far more comforting and profound than our immediate circumstances suggest.

The scriptures, and the Spirit, continually point us back to the eternal perspective: God knows. He knows the destination before we even know the first step.

The message shared in that video echoes a truth I’ve learned through years of missionary discussions and returned service: We are not navigating life by guesswork. We are being led by a divine Architect. Paul’s words in Philippians 3:14 ring so true when I reflect on them: "I press toward the mark for the prize of the upward calling of God in Christ Jesus."

The Purpose of the Detours

When we feel stalled, we often interpret it as divine abandonment. But I’ve learned that those "detours" are often the very places where the Spirit is refining us—where we are being trained to discern and practice the good works He has prepared for us. Think of it like mission preparation itself. We don't go straight to the field; we go through training, we learn the skills, we work on our testimony, and sometimes, we have to learn how to be comfortable in our own shoes before we can help others walk in theirs.

The Lord’s desire for us is not just for us to *succeed* in worldly terms; His desire is to see us flourish in the life He has prepared—a life of peace and abundance rooted in Him. He doesn't leave us without resources or direction because His desire is to see us realize *His* plan.

A Practical Skill for the Disciple: Asking for Divine Sight

So, how do we practically apply this? When doubt creeps in, I encourage you to treat it like a study session. Don't just ask, "What should I do?" Instead, frame it as a request for divine perspective. Ask: "Father, I trust that you have a perfect plan. Can you help me to see *your* plan through the lens of scripture, so that I can press forward with faith?"
