When the Path Seems Closed: Trusting the Unseen Promise

There are moments, aren't there, when you stand at a crossroads, and every sign—every piece of evidence—seems to point in one direction: *It’s too late. It’s impossible.*

I remember feeling that way myself. I was deep in my own season of waiting, the kind of waiting that stretches faith to its absolute limit. You look back at what God has spoken, what He has promised, and you look forward at the barren landscape of what *is*, and the gap feels enormous. It feels like the silence is deafening.

But lately, I’ve been spending time meditating on the steadfastness of divine promises—the kind of promises that don't have an expiration date. It hits you: God doesn't forget. His word is not subject to the changing tides of our circumstances or the ebb and flow of our feelings.

This week, I wanted to share some thoughts after watching this beautiful reminder that reminds us where our true anchor lies. It’s a powerful message about Abraham, about enduring when all the visible evidence suggests failure.

The Difference Between Silence and Absence

When we feel that spiritual silence—those unanswered prayers, those desires that seem to just dissolve into the quiet—it’s so easy to mistake it for God’s absence. We start to question, "Did He forget? Did I do something wrong?"

But the Spirit whispers a different truth: The silence of God is not absence; it is attention. It is preparation. It is sacred ground.

Think about that. That quiet space isn't empty; it’s fertile. It’s where the seeds of faith, the kind that can withstand the long winter, are planted and nurtured.

Finding Strength in the Word and the Spirit

It’s in those moments of waiting that we learn the profound difference between relying on our own strength and relying on the covenant keeping power of the Lord. We are taught, through our scriptures and through the testimonies of those who have walked this path, that faith isn't the absence of doubt; it’s the choice to keep moving forward *despite* the doubt, because we trust the One who spoke the promise.

I’ve been encouraged lately to dig deeper into the Book of Mormon scriptures, particularly when I read about the covenants made. It really drives home that the promises are anchored to Christ’s Atonement, and that covenant power never wavers.

This simple act of surrender is a form of worship, and it allows the Spirit room to work. It's a small act of faith that echoes the great faith of Abraham.
