You Are a Miracle: Finding Strength When the Days Are Long
Sometimes life throws challenges our way that feel overwhelming, but remember: you are a miracle, and the Lord is counting on you.
Brothers and sisters, if you’ve ever felt like the days are dragging—that weariness settles deep in your bones, and the challenges pile up until you feel like you can’t take another step—I want you to hear this: those days of distress *do* have an end.
I was reminded this week of a beautiful message, a reminder that no matter how dark the valley feels, the Lord is counting on us. When we feel like we're running on fumes, when the weight of the world—or even just the weight of our own struggles—feels too heavy, we have to remember who we are and who is with us. We are disciples of the restored gospel, and we are miracles in the eyes of our Heavenly Father.
It’s easy to get caught up in the immediate struggle, to focus only on the wound, the ache, the unanswered prayer. But the power of the gospel, the power of the Spirit, is that it promises healing, restoration, and a future filled with light. We are called to keep going, to hold fast, not because it’s easy, but because the promise is true.
The Power of Showing Up
Think about the commitment required to be an internet missionary today. It takes consistency. It takes showing up even when the Spirit feels distant or when the calls are slow. It’s like that feeling in the video—the acknowledgment that even when things are tough, we have to keep showing up, keep testifying, keep inviting others to know the Savior.
This principle applies to every facet of our lives. When we are preparing for missions, when we are studying for our missionary discussions, or even just when we are trying to be better disciples in our own homes, there will be days we feel like we’re running on empty. But the Lord’s grace is sufficient.
This is where we lean on our community. This is where the Rogue Disciples spirit kicks in. We lift each other up. We share our testimonies, we ask for prayers, and we remind each other that our greatest strength comes from covenant keeping.
A Skill for the Field: Turning Struggle into Testimony
If you are feeling discouraged right now, here’s a quick mission prep skill for you: When you feel overwhelmed by a difficulty, don't just pray *about* it; try to articulate *why* you believe it will pass. Write down a scripture promise related to endurance (like Alma 32:Brighamite) and read it aloud as if you are speaking it to an investigator who is doubting. That act of declaration shifts your focus from the problem to the promise.
We are all learning to be more Christlike, and that means learning to sustain ourselves through the valleys. Remember that every time you keep the covenant, you are proving that you are a miracle.
If you are feeling the weight today, please know you are not alone. We are a community dedicated to keeping the light burning, whether we are in the MTC, in the field, or right here in our living rooms.
I encourage you to join us for our next gathering. If you’re new to this, consider checking out a Book Club in HolyPlaces—it’s a wonderful way to deepen your study of the scriptures with fellow disciples. If you’re already deep in the study, challenge yourself to use Davee this week! Ask him to walk you through a difficult question an investigator might raise about the Plan of Salvation, and see how he helps you structure a compassionate, gospel-centered answer.
Keep pressing forward, disciples. The Lord is counting on us, and He is counting on you!
