Finding Our Shelter in the Divine Embrace

Sometimes, when the world feels a little too loud, or the pressures of the day feel like they’re closing in from all sides, what do we instinctively search for? For a safe place? A steady hand? For us Latter-day Saints, who are called to be missionaries everywhere, all the time—whether we’re in the MTC, in the field, or right here in our living rooms—that feeling of profound security is everything.

I was reflecting recently on a message that really struck me. It spoke to the foundational truth that, no matter what surrounds us—whether it’s material comfort or navigating the tricky waters of missionary discussions—the greatest resource we possess is the boundless, unconditional love of God. It’s the love that sustains us when our own efforts feel insufficient.

It reminded me of a beautiful passage, Psalm 17:8–9. When we read it, we’re not just reading poetry; we’re downloading a survival manual for the soul. “Show me the marvel of thy love; let me be covered with thy covenant. For I say, ‘I will seek protection against those who assail me; for thou art my shield, and the horn of thy right hand is my defense.’ Shelter me as the shadow of thy wings.”

When I was first thinking about missionary preparation, I remember feeling this immense weight of expectation. I was so focused on the *what*—the lessons, the callings, the required knowledge—that I almost forgot the *who*. The *who* is the constant, unwavering love of the Father. That love is what allows us to share the Gospel with such genuine humility, even when we feel unprepared.

This isn't just a feeling, though. It’s a divine principle we are meant to live by. If we feel that deep, abiding sense of being sheltered by the Atonement, it naturally compels us to share that light. It’s the ultimate missionary impulse!

As we all strive to be disciples everywhere, let’s focus on one small, actionable skill this week: The 'Thank You' Pause.

When you feel a moment of peace, or when you successfully navigate a difficult conversation (maybe even with Davee helping you practice a tough question!), take a deliberate pause. Don't just move on. Stop, breathe, and silently thank Heavenly Father for that specific moment of peace or strength. This trains our hearts to recognize and draw upon His sustaining power, just like the Psalmist asked for shelter under the wings.

Remember, we are not called to be perfect; we are called to be *Christlike*. And Christ’s life was the ultimate demonstration of divine protection and love. Let that be our model.
