Seeing the Miracle: When the Impossible Becomes Our Strength

My brothers and sisters, when I think about the journey—the moments in the MTC, the challenging first assignments, even the quiet moments of study back home—what comes to mind isn't always the grand victory. It’s often the quiet realization that what *seemed* impossible was actually the very thing God used to change our story.

There’s a powerful feeling, isn't there? That sense of standing at the edge of a seemingly insurmountable difficulty—a tough teaching moment, a deep personal trial, or a calling that feels too big for our current capacity. It feels like the end of the line. But as we continue to learn about the Savior, we realize that the narrative is never truly over.

I was reflecting recently on a song that spoke so deeply to the heart of discipleship. It captured that feeling perfectly: the feeling that what was supposed to be our death, or our failure, was instead the very moment Jesus changed our fortune. It’s a beautiful reminder that our greatest growth often happens right in the valley of the shadow.

If you’ve been wrestling with something lately—a persistent doubt, a challenging relationship, or a feeling of spiritual dryness—I want you to hold onto this truth: There is a miracle waiting for you. It’s not always a dramatic, Hollywood kind of miracle; sometimes, it’s the quiet, persistent whisper of the Spirit guiding you back to the right scripture, or the steady hand of a companion who reminds you of the covenant you made.

The Power of the Miracle

The song spoke of coming down to the river, coming to the cross. In our discipleship, that "river" can be anything—it could be the baptismal font, it could be the quiet study session in the temple, or it could be the moment you finally decide to share your testimony with someone who has been resistant to the gospel.

We are taught to be Christlike, and being Christlike means accepting that we are always in process. We are always being changed. We are always being purified. We are always being prepared for the next assignment, whether that's a transfer to a new stake or simply mastering the art of the thoughtful missionary discussion.

This week, let’s focus on identifying where we are currently facing what feels "impossible." Don't try to fix it with your own strength. Instead, bring it to the Savior. Ask Him to use His power in that spot. That's where the change happens.

Remember, every single member here, whether you are a seasoned returned missionary who has seen it all, a student preparing for the temple endowment, or a lifelong disciple who feels like they’ve plateaued—you have the capacity to be an internet missionary. You can be a disciple anywhere, all the time.
