The Gift of Presence: Sharing Your Testimony in the Field
Whether you're in the MTC, on a mission, or right here in your own living room, sharing what the Spirit has done is how we build Zion together.
Brothers and sisters, if there’s one thing the Spirit whispers to us as we prepare for the field—whether that field is across the world or just down the street—it’s the power of testimony. It’s the power of *being present*.
I was reflecting this week on a recent gathering, and the beautiful, almost palpable feeling in the room was one of gratitude. Hearing people from every corner of the earth—from Japan to Mozambique, from Europe to right here—all sharing their stories, their struggles, and most importantly, what the Lord has done in their lives. It was a powerful reminder that the work is global, and the Spirit knows no borders.
It struck me, as I was listening, that the act of sharing isn't just about recounting events; it’s about acknowledging the gift of life itself. We are given this breath, this chance to gather, to learn, to serve, and to feel the warmth of the covenant community. It’s a profound privilege, one we must never take for granted.
Being Christlike: A Practice of Witness
When we talk about being Christlike, we often think of grand gestures—the selfless act, the major conversion. But sometimes, the most Christlike thing we can do is simply *show up*. It’s showing up to the Book Club, showing up to the scripture study, and most importantly, showing up to share what the Spirit has prompted you to share.
This reminds me of the core principle of our movement: every member can be an Internet missionary, every member can be a disciple anywhere, all the time. We don't need a specific uniform or a set schedule to participate in the work. We just need our willingness to testify.
A Little Mission Prep Skill: The Art of the Invitation
For those of you heading into missionary discussions, or even just having a casual talk with an investigator, remember this: Don't just answer questions; invite conversation. When someone asks, “What is the gospel?” don't just quote scripture. Instead, share a brief, personal story—a time *you* felt the Spirit confirm the truth of the restored gospel. That personal touch is what makes the message stick.
It’s about weaving your personal journey into the divine narrative. It’s about making the investigator feel seen, known, and invited into the light, just as so many of us felt when we first started sharing our own testimonies.
We are all disciples in training, continually learning how to share the good news. If you’re feeling rusty, don’t worry. That’s what the community is for! If you want to practice this, I highly recommend diving into a Book Club in HolyPlaces. It’s a low-stakes, high-reward environment to practice discussing doctrine with peers who care.
If you’re struggling with how to answer a particularly thorny question, remember that Davee is here for you. He’s trained in the AI Investigator role, ready to walk you through those tough hypotheticals so you can feel prepared and confident when the time comes.
We are building a global body of disciples, one shared testimony at a time. Keep sharing, keep learning, and keep drawing strength from those who have gone before us. The Lord is doing great things through His Saints!
