Brothers and sisters, as we continue to press forward in the work, we hear so many wonderful testimonies of conversion—of people realizing they need a change. It’s exhilarating to see the Spirit moving, and it makes us eager to help those around us understand the depth of the Atonement. Sometimes, when we are preparing for missionary discussions, or even just talking with friends at home, the question pops up: 'What does it *actually* mean to be born again?'

It’s a big theological question, one that has stumped thinkers for centuries. It’s the kind of question that requires us to dig deep into the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and most importantly, the guidance of the Spirit. It’s not just about attending church or reading scriptures; it’s about a profound, divine change.

Understanding the New Birth

Being "born again" means that while we are called to *live* like disciples—to be Christlike, to keep our covenants—the *ability* to start that journey comes entirely as a gift. It’s a divine intervention, an act of God imparting spiritual life to those who trust in the Savior. It’s the difference between trying to build a house with weak materials versus having the Spirit provide the divine blueprint and the strength.
