Their lives are filled with moments where the expected outcome—the harvest, the desired lineage, the immediate comfort—was completely stripped away. Yet, it is in those moments of profound loss and uncertainty that their faith shines brightest. It’s a faith that whispers, 'But if not...'

This concept of 'but if not' faith is such a cornerstone of missionary preparation. We prep for the perfect talk, the perfect answer, the perfect conversion moment. But the Lord often takes us to the field, or even just to a quiet moment of study, and He asks us to trust Him even when the preparation feels incomplete. We have to learn to be content in the 'okay, where are we going?' phase, knowing that the destination is determined by Him, not our comfort level.
