Reading through 1 Samuel chapter 5, I was struck by the sheer, undeniable power of the Lord’s glory, even when it was displayed as a trophy in the temple of an enemy god. The Philistines thought they had won. They thought their idol, Dagon, represented life and power, and they placed the Ark of the Covenant right next to it. Victory seemed complete, right? But the Lord’s glory had not departed at all.

What followed wasn't a battle cry; it was a divine, undeniable *bowing*. Dagon fell down before the Ark. And the next morning? His head and hands were broken off. It was a spectacular, undeniable dismantling of false belief.
